Iceland Project Exhibition Is Launching
My exhibition is finally underway and I'd love to invite you along.
Happy Friday everyone,
It’s been a while, I hope you are having a great January and taking care of yourselves in this chilly season (if you are in the UK). And for those of you in the sunny parts of the world, we are all very jealous of your Vit D ;)
The last month has been a pretty wild one for me, we moved out of our house to have some much-needed building work done before our baby girl makes an appearance in April and we are wading through rubble and plasterboard at the moment, but thankfully able to live with lovely friends.
We also went to LA to visit a friend before I started my third trimester, which was a blast! Our friend took us on a 10-day tour of Beverly Hills, Orange County (which has always been a teenage dream of mine), The Warner Brother’s Studio, Dolphins watching, went surfing (well one of us did), and ate like kings and queens.
Iceland Project Exhibition
As you know I have been working towards an exhibition since September and I am so excited to announce that it is finally happening on Friday 4th March at the beautiful Well & Good space in Godalming!
I would love to invite you all to come along for a drink and to see the exhibition anytime from 7:30 pm.
But more about that next week!
Artist Of The Week: Jess Velarde
While I was in Los Angeles I went to an art cafe in Pasadena. The artwork that was being exhibited that week was by Jess Velarde and was absolutely stunning! Jess blends studies of faces and botanical florals and foliage together in beautifully rich colours and textures in oils.
I was struck by her artist statement about this exhibition of work.
“The more seasons I go through both in my personal life and in this collective human experience, the more I develop a gratitude for beauty. The more I become acquainted with despare, the more I love flowers…Flowers are small miracles that speak stories of life, death, resurrection, and a persistent, transcendent joy. They call us to a stubborn gladness that fiercely, rebelliously clings to hope in the midst of despair. This painting has been born from that fierce fight to choose joy, as a love letter to fellow rebels.”
Check out Jess’s website for more of her work here. Enjoy!
Next week I’ll be introducing the awesome space at Well & Good and some more details about my exhibition.
Thanks for reading and have a great weekend,
