Back In The Studio To Start The Final Paintings
Hello,
Hope you are doing well on this fine Friday. Autumn is here it’s officially time to wear scarves and drink hot chocolate.
This week I have been painting away and have nearly finished my first big canvas of my Iceland Exhibition…
I have jumped straight in with a huge painting, 90 X 120 CM it just about fits on my easel. But I love working on a large scale with abstract landscapes. Taking the simple colour palette I saw in Iceland (blues, greens, browns and white with pops of yellow) I tried to find the lines and shapes of the landscape, the organic sweeps of the sky and mountains. Would love to know your thoughts :) Check out the video above to see how it was made.
Artist Of The Week: Neil Canning
I stumbled upon Neil’s work this week. He uses earthy colour pallet’s with pops of brighter colours, his brushstrokes gestural and expressive. There’s a sense of motion and movement in his work that I love. Another Artist based in Cornwall, lots of Neil’s work is inspired by the ocean, but his travels to New York and Hong Kong have produced cityscapes and skyscrapers. Check him out by clicking the image below.
