iPad Art & The Sand Experiment
Hello and happy Friday,
Hope you all had a good week and a great start to this term. Last week we were hoping for more sun, and for a glorious three days, we had it. Thanks, sun. I hope you got to enjoy it :)
Inking On The iPad Pro
The iPad Pro has been a game-changer for me with my artwork. It’s like having an art shop in your bag! Being so easy to take traveling and so versatile with hundreds of different kinds of brushes, I have started using it in the early stages of fine artwork as well as illustration.
This week I was working out which brushes to use and choosing colours to start building a palette.
The Sand Experiment: For Better or Worse…
This week I was continuing part 2 of my canvas prep experiments, looking for interesting ways to create texture. I dabbled in using sand in the texture paste and later on in the actual oil paint.
The results were all in all pretty good, however, it went through various stages as it developed. Sometimes looking promising, sometimes looking really strange - and not in a good way. It finally came into land and it’s mostly achieved the aesthetic I am working towards.
Check out the video above to see how it turned out.
Featured Artist Of The Week: Chloe Smart
Chloe Smart is one of my favourite iPad illustrators. Her work is inspired by female empowerment and celebrates women in all forms. My favourite aspect of her work is the humour that she finds in her ideas, making them relatable and always interesting to look at.
Chloe’s work can be found in Urban Outfitters, Love From Yours and her surface pattern designs are sold in Hobbs. Check her out, I hope you like her stuff as much as I do.
Artwork Of The Week:
Blue Lagoon is an oil on canvas 24 X 30”. It’s painted with palette knives and brushes. It’s a smaller version of a much larger scale piece I am about to start painting soon!
You can see more of my work and blog posts on my website here. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or would just like to say hello :) Thanks for reading and have a great weekend,
