Happy Wednesday!
I hope you had a great week. The snowdrops are out, which means Spring is just around the corner. I, for one, can’t wait. Bring on the blooms!
This week I started a new side project using a sketchbook, screws, flower stems, string and a cocktail stick. It sounds random, but read on…
Sketchbook Project
A sketchbook is surprisingly therapeutic. It can be absolutely anything you want it to. It can be used like a visual journal, a place to experiment or a place to put ideas. You don’t have to worry about it being seen or sold!
There are so many techniques, mediums and ideas out there in the world, I wish I had the time to explore them all, but sadly I think this would require me having 3 lifetimes ;) So in order for me to be able to explore the ones that would be the most useful (or the most fun), I bought a sketchbook and am making a list. I would love to take you along with me on the journey!
First up is mark-making. Mark-making is a great way to explore new techniques and loosen up when you get stuck in a creativity rut. Ink is one of my favourite mediums to work with as it makes such beautiful marks and strokes, some intense and some transparent and delicate.
Watch below to see how it turned out…
Objects I used…
Flat head nail
Cross head screw
Cocktail stick
Flower stems
Leaves
String
Ridged wooden dowel
A small paintbrush
My favourites were the ridged dowel and the flower stem, they made surprisingly great textures.
Next week I have some new finished pieces to share with you which I am very excited about, but until then, have a great week and thanks for reading.
