Hello and happy Wednesday to you,
There’s nothing quite like the imminent arrival of a baby to kick you into gear.
Time is soon going to be an abstract concept for me when the baby train arrives, and for a short while, I won’t be able to create artwork regularly while I find my feet with our new little one. But, not for long ;) I’ll be back in your inbox before you know it.
Over the last few months, I have been exploring ways of bringing my fine artwork and printmaking into my pattern design and letting these ideas role around in the background of my thoughts without much success. I found every time I tried to create something, the ideas didn’t quite work and marry up together. Then, after a really helpful feedback session a few weeks ago with another artist, I decided to just get on with it and start throwing ideas together and see how they develop.
So, after two intense weeks of work, I have created a new collection of work that I’d love to show you! Using the original ink prints that I made this summer and as a continuation of my last fine art collection, Wildly, here’s my Wildly Pattern Collection :)
Wildly Pattern Collection

These designs are created using the original botanical ink printmaking I have been developing this summer, some watercolour elements and acrylic paint textured backgrounds. All these elements were pulled together and I arranged them into patterns and illustrations. You can find lots of videos of the printing process on my YouTube Channel and Instagram!

A New Surface Pattern Design Portfolio
For artists these days, having an online portfolio is crucial, and it’s something that keeps developing as artwork changes and evolves. Yesterday, I finished a new and updated portfolio for my surface pattern design! This portfolio will be sent out to licensing companies and brands in the hunt for the right fit for collaborations and, hopefully, having artwork used on products.
I would love you to have a peruse if you are keen, and let me know your thoughts! You can find it below…
Maternity Leave & Christmas Sales
So this, my friends, will be my last email for a few weeks as I get very close to my maternity leave. The beauty of freelance is that I can work during the hours that my new babe will be sleeping, but for a few months, while we are all settling into newborn life, I will be sending these emails out just once a month. However, I will be having big Christmas sales so keep an eye out for affordable original art that will make perfect gifts :)
I will also still be posting on my Instagram, so hopefully, I’ll see you there.
Thank you for reading and for all your support this year. I appreciate it more than I can say and am so grateful for such wonderful friends and family.
Have a great Autumn term,
Lydia x
